NUTM Scholars Program

The NUTM Scholars Program (NSP) is a one-year full-time interdisciplinary postgraduate program in Technology, Entrepreneurship and Design. During the program, Scholars will learn and study concepts in technology, entrepreneurship and design, management and leadership. The NSP intends to groom stellar young leaders from a diverse range of backgrounds across Africa to be change agents for the region and the world.

Admission Process


Online Application

Complete the online application form and provide information on your background, education, work experience, interests and motivations. There is NO application fee.

Online Assessment

Shortlisted candidates from Stage 1 will be invited for an online assessment. The assessment will test learning agility, personality traits and critical thinking abilities.

Telephone Interview

Qualified candidates from Stage 2 will be invited for a 20 minute telephonic interview. The telephonic interview will evaluate your aspirations and suitability for the NSP.

Panel Interview

The final stage is an in-person 20-minute interaction with a panel. At this stage, you will be assessed on your aptitude, leadership potential and motivation to attend the Program.

  • A recognized bachelor's degree in any field
  • Must not be older than 35 years of age as at the date of application


  • Applicants may have work experience and/or a postgraduate degree. The academic and professional backgrounds of applicants can be from any discipline.
  • It is mandatory for all the selected applicants to submit their transcripts before the start of pre-term. Failing to do so would result in withdrawal of an offer.

₦4.5Mn ($8,000)*, inclusive of tuition and campus residence.

*The overall cost of delivering the NSP is ₦21Mn (~$35,000). However, we are able to offer a heavily subsidized fee of ₦4.5Mn ($8,000) through the support of our generous benefactors and donors. International candidates, those with special needs and/or those from regions facing difficulty are encouraged to apply and will be considered for additional financial support.

The reviewers are looking for experiences and activities in the applicant’s history that showcase their excellence in academics and other areas including sports, performing or fine arts, science and technology, or commitment to social service, problem solving and helping others.

Yes, if you have a Master’s degree or doctoral degree, you can apply for the NSP.

No. You have the option to save parts of the application as you proceed. You can complete the online application in multiple seatings.

There is no predefined number for applicants called for interviews. All eligible candidates from each stage of the admissions process will be evaluated and progressed to the subsequent stages if found suitable. The final class size will be determined based on the quality of applications received and the performance of each applicant at each stage of the evaluation process. Our maximum class size is 60.

The interviews will refer to, but will not be limited to, the information and responses provided by you during the online application stage. Be prepared to answer specific questions on your essays and professional experience.

It is mandatory for all the selected applicants to submit transcripts and/or certificates of their Bachelor’s degree before the start of pre-term. Failing to do so will result in withdrawal of the offer.

A scanned copy of an official transcript or most recent transcript can be submitted with the application. A sighting of the original will be required upon registration.

Yes. You can reapply but not within the same academic year. You will have to submit a fresh application the following year.

No, there is no such option. However, the candidate may re-apply in the following academic year (i.e.the next admission cycle).

While the overall cost of delivering the NSP is ₦21.0M (~$35,000), we can offer this year’s program at a heavily subsidized price of ₦4.5M ($8,000). This includes tuition, course materials and accommodation at the NSP campus only.

A non-refundable acceptance fee of 5% (₦225,000) is due upon acceptance of the offer. The candidate may pay the rest of the fees in up to 3 instalments but will have to make the entire fee payment before the start of the programme.

The NUTM Scholars Program is a continuous 10-month fully residential programme. It starts in October and concludes with a convocation in August of the following year. Scholars are required to stay in paid accommodation offered by NUTM.

There is an attendance policy. Out of all the classes for each course taught at the NSP, one can only miss two classes without any penalty. Beyond that, a Scholar will be liable to receive a grade cut, or an F grade that will result in having no credits for the course.

Taught classes and experiential learning activities run from Monday through Friday and sometimes on Saturday. The workload during the NSP is expected to be intense and will vary based on your courses, TEDLab, Shadow-a-Leader, guest lectures, and other elements.

The curriculum is intense and the NSP schedule is busy and runs Monday through Friday and sometimes on Saturday. We do not encourage working full or part-time during the NSP.

English is the official language at NUTM. All instructions, applications, lectures and results will be delivered in English. We encourage all applicants to have an advanced level of English proficiency.

Applications are processed in rounds of applications. The status of your application will be communicated to you via email within six weeks following the end of an application round. There are three rounds in every NSP admission cycle. The earlier you apply, the earlier your application will be reviewed.

A post-graduate certificate in Technology, Entrepreneurship and Design will be awarded by NUTM upon successful completion of the NSP.
